I am 11 years old, and am a member of the Explorers 4-H Youth Club. I am very interested in bugs. My friends think I am weird because I like bugs so much. We live in the country and have many animals, 2 horses, 2 ferrets, 1 hamster, 8 cats, 2 dogs, 1 guide dog puppy (that we are raising) 40 breeding rabbits, 30 hens, 16 homing racing pigeons. We have a lot of bugs in our yard. I catch them and watch them, then turn them loose. The hens like to find the bugs too. I found out about the Bug Club from my mom, she types the county 4-H newsletter and told me about it. It sound like a really neat club to be in since I can do it at home on the web.

Hello, I am ladybug 2. I like the lady bug because I like it's red and black colors. I also like to hold them and feel their tickle with their little legs. Another reason that I like them is because they eat Aphids off of plants and save the plants. I like to swim and ride my bicycle. I have a guitar that I am learning to play. I am a Girl Scout too. Flowers and pumpkins are growing in my house. My favorite books to read are Nancy Drew Chapter books.

I like ladybugs because of Francis on the movie "A Bug's Life". He's cool and shows that everything is not always what it looks like, JUST LIKE BUGS! Some look scary, but aren't dangerous, they just use that for protection.

I just finished my first year in 4-H. One of the activities I did this year was Beginning Entomology. I've always liked catching bugs so this was a great project for me. I collected many different kinds including: A Lubber Grasshopper from Madison County, a Preying Mantis, and a real Katydid plus ants, bees, ladybugs, and more. The preying mantis earned me an award for having the most "unusual bug" in our bug contest. I can't wait to do another Entymology Project next year too.

Hi! I'm turning eleven soon and I'm in the 5th grade. I am in a homeschooled 4-H club. This is my third year in 4-H. I did an Entomology project two years ago. My favorite subject is reading. I also like bicycling and other outdoor activities.

I love butterflies & moths! Right now I'm raising two different kinds of moth caterpillars: Io moth and Polyphemus moth. I found the Io Moth on a camping trip, and put it in my bug box. When I released it, I found eggs on the roof of the cage! The Io moth caterpillars are not as big as the others. They don't eat as fast, but they're pretty big. The longest one is 2 in. I now have 22 of these. When you touch them their spines really sting! My Dad caught the Polyphemus moth. It laid 101 eggs! Now I have only 34 caterpillars. That shows how many can die, even in captivity. When they hatched they fit through the screen of the cage, but now some are almost 2 1/2 in. long! They can eat a super big branch in less than 24 hr! If you stand near the cage quietly you can hear the crunching sound. Both will turn into very big & beautiful moths.
